He's wrestling against the future
She's trying to forget her past...
Sidelined with a major injury, steer wrestler Cort McGraw struggles to come to terms with the end of his career. Shanghaied by his sister and best friend, he finds himself on a run-down ranch with a worrisome, albeit gorgeous widow, and her silent, solemn son.
Five minutes after Cort McGraw lands on her doorstep, K.C. Peters fights to keep a promise she made to herself to stay away from single, eligible men. When her neighbor said he knew just the person to help work her ranch for the winter, she never expected the handsome, brawny former rodeo star to fill the position.
Ready to send him packing, her little boy has other plans.

Tate Morgan called the previous afternoon and said he knew someone experienced willing to work for what she could pay. Unable to believe her good fortune, she expected a grizzled old ranch hand in his retirement years, not a good-looking giant of a man in his prime.
Tall and brawny, Cort McGraw happened to be one of the most handsome men she’d ever seen. From his silvery-gray eyes rimmed with black eyelashes to the dimple in his all-too-attractive chin, she wished Kenzie had given her some warning. If she’d known what he looked like, that he was so young, rugged, and hunky, she would have told Tate not to bother sending Cort to her place.
Mercy, he smelled good, too. Even now, his manly, musky fragrance filled her senses. Annoyed with herself for savoring his heady scent, she brushed at her nose, hoping to chase away the lingering aroma of his aftershave.

Sorry, not that impressed. I've enjoyed previous Shanna Hatfield novels some, nothing great but some are ok. This one was cute, had some decent character interaction, cute kids but their was WAY too much tell versus show. The writing was sub par and, while Cort and Kaley had decent chemistry, there just wasn't much realistic tension. Cort changed way too fast too. I'd like to see a bit of character build in both of them. The story was long enough plenty to accommodate all of this yet it was filled with needless Christmas decoration and food descriptions. The overall plot was ok and the individual characters ok but not great. It was free but I feel I wasted my time if not my money. While also not the best writing, I much preferred the Thompson brothers first book. I think it's called Cowboy' s Christmas Plan.Shanna Hatfield is ALWAYS, however, light, mostly clean and Christian. This particular novel seemed less clean (but that's on an extremely conservative viewpoint) with all the intense kissing. And I felt Cort and Kaley did not establish a real relationship, I.e. friendship, prior to the end of the story. And for those that want a deep relationship with Christ evident In a Christian novel, while it's hinted at, it's not at all overt. But Cort DOES at least hold himself back from what a non-Christian man probably would do given many tempting moments, that witness of a Godly man was nice.
I still felt Mrs. Hatfield could have done much better with not even that much editing. She displays decent writing in three other books I've read. While it's no Hemingway, her writing is usually fun. Basically beach reads. I was disappointed in her. Dialogue should convey more of the show vs. Tell instead of all those descriptions. Or internal thoughts. Kaley, especially. Many, many paragraphs describe her from the outside. She's one of the three main character! Let her dialogue and internal thoughts describe her personality. Cort was slightly better done.

Wrestlin' Christmas Sweet Western Holiday Romance Rodeo Romance Book 2 edition by Shanna Hatfield Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
I have read or listened to this whole series I really have enjoyed them but I do believe so far this one is my favorite. Life is so tough when you lose the things you think are important you may go in a direction that isn't always right. We tend to forget others have it worse than we do and only think of ourselves as Cort does. This author gives you a wonderful amazing read of Cort finding his way back from drinking and a family he thought he would never have. This story is so touching it will break your heart and leaving you smiling with tears in your eyes. Ms. Hatfield gives you a read full of pain, anger, and lost. When you do not think you have more to lose you find you do as a family walks away in hopes of getting their love one to come back to them.
KC has had a hard life from childhood to adult she doesn't ask for much just lives one day as it comes. She lost her parents, her husband and part of her child now she faces loosing her ranch. Her marriage wasn't bad but it wasn't good and she vows no man will ever get close to her again. Sometimes life has it's own thoughts as it brings Cort to her door she finds he isn't only a handy man but works wonders with her son and her heart. As they grow close she must decide what is best for her family. It might surprise you the twist this author gives as the fight for love begins.
When Cort got hurt and had to give up the rodeo he thinks his life is over. He makes decisions his family isn't happy with. One too many nights out drinking and not facing life puts him in a tail spin when his family hits him with some major facts. Being dropped off at his best friend's door he goes through the motions until his friend sends him to help the widow. This is a day that will change his life as he takes on the run down ranch, the widow and her silent son. Things are about to get heated up with misunderstanding, pointing fingers and the love of one child.
Luke Andreen did an outstanding job on this narrations. When it came time for tears to fall you could hear them in his voice. There was a place at the end where Cort got chocked up that you could really hear the tears in his voice. This was a very touching scene for me and almost had me in tears as well. This narrator gives you a very touching listen as he brings to live the many wonderful voice of all the different characters. There are no background noises just a smooth rich audio that reaches in and grabs your heartstrings. There was a time or two where you might be able to tell he took a break as his tone gets a little higher. No way does it take away from the audio and you almost miss it. I totally enjoyed listening to him with his rich deep voice. I am really looking forward to listening to more audios from this narrator.
Ms. Hatfield give you a very well written compelling story that will bring tears to your eyes more than once with this wonderful read of heartbreak as these three people find a way to bring Christmas and wishes to the holiday season. One little boy who hasn't spoken a word for years will pull you in and take your heart. He is just a sweetheart that will be a wonderful man. You get to revisit some wonderful characters from the last book and see how their lives have changed. Ms. Hatfield stories just get better and better as she takes you on a wonderful journey of broken hearts and putting them back together again. She brings you tons of smiles in this clean read as she puts these two people in some passionate scenes. I doubt you can read this story without it touching your heart. The only thing I would have liked to have known was what made the little boy never talk after his father was killed.
The ending this author gives you will bring even the strongest to their knees as you wipe a tear from your eye. I really loved this story with strong characters that are broken but won't give in. If you haven't read anything from this author you really should give Wrestlin' Christmas a try. This author has become one of my favorite in a short time. I can't wait to read more from her and her touching reads.
